Peter is a charismatic man in a black sedan who shows up in a small mountainside community. He is there to target Brenda for information, at the behest of his shadowy boss, Mr. Lock.
Brenda is a seemingly glamorous real estate agent, but she has a dark secret. She is an unhinged alcoholic, and she is involved in some shady activities.
Peter begins to manipulate Brenda in order to get the information he needs. He also starts to develop feelings for her, but he knows that he can't trust her.
Meanwhile, the townspeople are suspicious of Peter. They don't know who he is or what he wants.
The film comes to a head when Peter and Brenda are forced to confront their own dark secrets. They must also decide whether to trust each other or to betray each other.
