In the year 2079, Earth is ravaged by chemical warfare, leaving only two habitable regions: The opulent United Federation of Britain (UFB), built on the British Isles, and the cramped, oppressive Colony, on the former Australia. Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), a factory worker toiling away in the Colony, longs for escape.
His mundane life is rocked by recurring dreams of Mars, a forbidden red planet rumored to hold secrets. Seeking a break from reality, Quaid visits Rekall, a company that implants fake memories of exciting adventures. He chooses to be a secret agent on Mars.
But something goes wrong during the procedure. Quaid awakes with implanted memories, but also a hidden real past linked to a rebellion against the UFB's tyrannical leader, Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston).
Suddenly, Quaid becomes a target. Hunted by UFB forces led by the ruthless Carl Hauser (Jessica Biel), a mysterious woman whose face haunts his dreams, Quaid must unravel the truth about his identity and purpose.
His journey takes him on a whirlwind adventure through the labyrinthine tunnels of The Fall, a gravity elevator connecting the UFB and the Colony, and onto the forbidden Martian surface, where a hidden resistance base holds the key to freedom.
