Aliens misinterpret classic arcade game footage from Earth as a declaration of war, launching an attack using characters and technology inspired by these games. Pac-Man rampages through New York City, Donkey Kong terrorises the Empire State Building, and alien spaceships resembling Galaga enemies wreak havoc. To combat this unexpected invasion, President Cooper calls upon his childhood friend, Sam Brenner, a former video game champion, to lead a team of old-school gamers.

This team, including the "Centipede" master Ludlow Lamonsoff and Sam's childhood rival "The Fire Blaster" Eddie Plant, must use their gaming skills and knowledge to defeat the alien invaders inspired by these classic games. As they face each challenge, they discover that victory requires not just technical prowess but also teamwork, strategy, and a deep understanding of the games themselves.
