The Social Network
The film opens with Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg), a Harvard prodigy grappling with rejection and social awkwardness. Fuelled by a desire for recognition and belonging, he creates Facemash, a website rating female students' attractiveness. Though shut down for violating privacy, it sparks inspiration for TheFacebook, an exclusive social network for Harvard students.
With the help of his brilliant but volatile friend Eduardo Saverin (Andrew Garfield), TheFacebook rapidly gains traction, spreading to other Ivy League schools. Soon, ambitious twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss (Armie Hammer) and their business partner Divya Narendra (Max Minghella) approach Zuckerberg with their own social network idea, ConnectU. Zuckerberg initially collaborates but secretly pivots, launching TheFacebook nationwide and leaving them fuming.
