The Serpent's Kiss
The Serpent's Kiss tells the story of Meneer Chrome, a young and ambitious Dutch garden architect, who is hired by a wealthy merchant, Thomas Smithers, to create an extravagant garden on his overgrown property. Little does Meneer Chrome know that he is stepping into a web of passion, intrigue, and betrayal.
As Meneer Chrome immerses himself in the project, he becomes increasingly captivated by the enigmatic beauty of Smithers' wife, Juliana. Juliana, trapped in a loveless marriage, finds solace in Meneer Chrome's company and their shared love of art and nature.
Meanwhile, Smithers' cousin, Fitzmaurice, harbours a deep resentment towards Smithers and desires Juliana for himself. Fitzmaurice had previously hired Meneer Chrome, hoping to bankrupt Smithers through the extravagant garden project and eventually claim Juliana for his own.
As Meneer Chrome's relationship with Juliana deepens, he finds himself caught in a dangerous game of love and deception. He must navigate the treacherous waters of Smithers' jealousy, Fitzmaurice's machinations, and Juliana's own hidden desires.
