Secrets of the Museum
In this series, cameras were allowed behind the scenes at the world-renowned Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
Only a small part of the two million wonders in the V&A’s collection are on display to the public. But in Secrets of the Museum, we explore all the treasures of art, design and performance the museum has to offer, discovering objects from the deep in its stores to the latest acquisitions.
We follow experts and conservators at work in this treasure trove of Britain’s favourite objects, as they breathe new life into fragile marvels, uncover hidden stories, and battle to keep the past alive.
Every object tells a story and each programme will follow the V&A’s experts at work. Many of these objects are fragile, and most are extremely rare, presenting new conservation challenges at every turn. Told through the day-to-day lives of the V&A’s dedicated and world-leading team, the fascinating history of each object will be uncovered, from the skill and craft that went into its making to understanding why it matters today.
