Rocketman

Buckle up for a wild ride through the fantastical life of Elton John in Rocketman, the musical biopic that throws out the traditional biopic rulebook. Instead of a straight chronological retelling, this film uses Elton's iconic music as a launchpad, blasting us through pivotal moments in his life.

We first meet Reginald Dwight, a young prodigy yearning for his emotionally distant parents' love. Played by Taron Egerton, Reginald's journey unfolds through dazzling musical numbers, transforming him from a shy boy into the flamboyant superstar Elton John, complete with outrageous costumes and electrifying performances.  His songwriting partnership with Bernie Taupin (Jamie Bell) ignites a creative fire, and their music becomes the fuel propelling him to unimaginable fame.

But fame, like a double-edged sword, cuts deep.  Rocketman doesn't shy away from the darkness.  Elton grapples with self-doubt, addiction, and the crushing weight of expectation.  The film delves into his strained relationships, particularly the complex dynamic with his manager, John Reid (Richard Madden).

Yet, even amidst the struggles, Rocketman remains an uplifting celebration of music and self-discovery. Through this fantastical journey, Elton learns to embrace his true self, confronts his demons, and paves the way for a brighter future, a future soundtracked by his own incredible music.
